Keep the Food coming
The way to your in-laws heart is through dinner and dessert. Start researching new and unique dishes that can impress the family or start searching your old cookbooks for family recipes. While finding great appetizers or entrees, think about your in-laws pallets. What have they said in the past that they do not like taste wise or be considerate of any potential allergies If you choose to make a new dish, stay in your comfort zone. Do not try anything to risky. If you aren’t too confident with your cooking skills, there is no shame in ordering in delicious food as well. Whatever the end result is, just make sure there is a lot of tasty food.
Plan activities
Now all depending on who will be over your house, plan some activities accordingly. There’s nothing worse than guests that are feeling bored or unsure what to do. Think of some fun holiday activities that can be good for all ages. A couple of good examples of holiday projects could be ornament decorating, gingerbread houses from a kit or scratch, watch a holiday movie or if you have all adults creating fun and unique holiday cocktails. Whatever you choose, we recommend that you have something planned for the day.
Start thinking of traditions
What’s better than thinking about new family traditions. This is a thoughtful way to impress your new family. Think about this as an opportunity to create something that your family can look forward to every year. It can be anything from watching a specific movie, playing fun holiday games or going back to our first point of a delicious entrée that everyone will look forward to. Also, even continue your own holiday traditions, but consider adding a unique spin to be more inclusive of your new in-laws.
